Arundel House of Hope Vehicles for Change Referral Assistance

Thank you for your interest in working with Arundel House of Hope on a Vehicles for Change application. To be eligible for assistance with the application process, you must meet both Arundel House of Hope’s guidelines and Vehicles for Change’s eligibility requirements. Please read our guidelines and eligibility requirements below.

Arundel House of Hope Guidelines

• You must be a client in one of our programs. Options include:
  • The Resource and Day Center
  • The Community Recovery Center
  • The Fouse Center
  • The Patriot House
  • The Family Project
  • Bridges to Hope
  • Be a resident of Permanent Supportive Housing
    • WISH
    • Safe Haven
    • Community Supportive Housing

• If you are not currently a client of Arundel House of Hope, you can become a client by completing an intake at our main office. All client intakes are conducted in-person during our standard Day Center hours.

• You will be required to meet with a case manager in-person to complete the Vehicle for Change application and gather all necessary paperwork. This may take 2 to 3 in-person visits.

Vehicles for Changes Requirements

Please see the Vehicles of Change website for complete eligibility requirements. The basic requirements are below.

• You’ll be required to pay approximately $90 a month until the car loan is paid off

• You must work 30 hours a week or have a verifiable job offer and meet income limits

• You must have a Maryland driver’s license

• You must be insurable (no DWIs or DUIs)

• You cannot have any vehicle in your household

• You must be drug-free and have no extensive criminal background

• You must be able to cover fees for taxes, tags, and title (approximately an additional $250)

• If you are under the age of 25, you must have children

• You must be able to afford the ongoing cost of car ownership (insurance, fuel, and repairs, as needed).
